Our members find countless ways to live out their faith through service in the community.
Here are just two ways you can volunteer your time to ongoing mission of First Congregational United Church of Christ:
Family Promise of Grant County
Every 10-12 weeks, we assist in hosting and serving families who are experiencing homelessness for seven nights. Through a ministry of hospitality we provide beds, meals, and fellowship to our guests. We are always in need of volunteers to cook, clean, host, and sleep over night.
Pasty Ministry
Pasty Ministry is currently on pause.
Throughout the fall and spring we bake hundreds of pasties (a meat pie popular with Cornish settlers who first mined in this region). We sell them to community members and the use proceeds to support local organizations and the historical preservation of our buildings, as well as fund special projects within our congregation. Volunteers gather on Friday morning to peel potatoes and measure out dough ingredients. On Saturday, everyone comes together to bake and distribute fresh, hot, tasty pasties!
